Celebrities love to name their kids differently. Very differently indeed!
Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan have named their daughter Aaradhya. And Celina’s twin sons are called Winston and Viraaj. Naming their kids is a serious task for celebrities, who like to do everything zara hat-ke (differently).
While many people still fumble while spelling Hrithik Roshan, the actor has made it even more difficult to spell his beloved sons’ names. Try spelling Hrehaan and Hridhaan correctly with closed eyes and you would know what we mean.
Many Bollywood couples also seem to have a fetish for names from foreign tougues. Actor Arshad Warsi and model Maria Goretti seem to have taken much pains in naming their son and daughter Zeke Zidaan Warsi and Zene Zoe Warsi respectively. Reasons Arshad, “Zeke is not just a sound. In Arabic, it means a shooting star. I found it a cool name.” The ever-funny actor quips, “In school, I thought it would be better if he said his name was Zeke Zidaan, rather than Abdul Rahman!” And about Zene? “Zene means beautiful in an African language. There couldn’t be a better name for my lovely princess,” he adds.
The latest Kapoor in the cine-family is Kiaan Raj Kapoor. While Karisma’s daughter was named Samaira by husband Sanjay, the gorgeous actress went for an American Hebrew name for her son. “Kiaan means grace of God. And that’s what he is,” says the proud mother. Sanjay and Manyata Dutta named their twins Iqra and Shahraan. “The names are Persian. While my dauughter’s name Iqra means to learn, my son’s name Shahraan means royal knight,” explains the elated father.
Ajay Devgn and Kajol’s newly-born is called Yug, meaning era. Their daughter’s named Nysa. “It means the Goddess of purity,” says Ajay.
Sounds weird? Not quite so. When their Hollywood counterparts can come up with such whacky (read special) names for their kids – be it Nicolas Cage, whose son is named Kal-el in reference to Superman, or Sylvester Stallone naming his son Sage Moonblood, or Gwyneth Paltrow giving birth to Apple, or Shannyn Sossamon naming the kid Audio Science, and numerous others – our Bollywood stars are just trying to follow the trend within plausible limits.
